Ton Bakkeren è nato il 28 aprile del 1960 a Oisterwijk, un paesino non lontano da Tilburg, dove tuttora vive.
Financial controller, è uno dei migliori giocatori olandesi che ha vinto diversi titoli nazionali.
Sul piano internazionale ha vinto il Transnazionale Europeo a Squadre nel 2005, il Cavendish Pairs del 2006, la NEC Cup del 2007 e ha anche guadagnato un secondo posto alla White House del 2006.
Le sue migliori affermazioni sono forse state il bronzo colto a Shanghai nella Bermuda Bowl del 2007 e l'oro del 2013 a Tromsø nello Squadre Miste dell'Europeo Open.
È stato il coach della nazionale dei tulipani che ha conquistato l'argento ai Campionati Europei a squadre Open del 2012 e del 2019 ed il bronzo in quelli del 2016 nonché, nello stesso anno, l'oro nelle Olimpiadi.
Nel 2019 e 2022 è stato il coach della nazionale olandese che ha vinto due argenti nella Bermuda Bowl,
Ton Bakkeren was born in 1960 and
he is a financial controller that lives in Oisterwijk, a nice little town in the
south of the Netherlands.
Ton is currently one of the best bridge player in the Netherlands and has won some Dutch teams titles.
Furthermore, he has won (amongst other) the Cavendish Calcutta (2006), The NEC Cup (2007) and the White House Tournament (2007).
In 2005 he won the European Transnational Open Teams Championships.
In Shanghai 2007 he has playing his second Bermuda Bowl and he won a bronze medal.
Besides he won the 2013 European Mixed Teams.
He has been the coach of Netherlands team that earned silver medal at 2012 and 2019 European Open Teams plus Bermuda Bowl 2019, and the gold medal in the 2016 Olympiad.
In 2019 and 2022 has been the coach of Netherland Team that won two silver medals.
