Ferdinand Bie è nato il 18 febbraio del 1888 a Drammen, una città circa 40 Km a sud ovest della capitale ed è stato un grande atleta norvegese capace di vincere la medaglia d'oro nel pentatlon ai Giochi di Stoccolma.
La vinse per la squalifica di Jim Thorpe che verrà abolita 69 anni più tardi senza, però, che la medaglia d'oro venisse tolta a Bie.
Laureato in medicina divenne un chirurgo che operò a Kristiansand e che si appassionò al Bridge divenendo Presidente della Federazione Norvegese per 10 anni e arrivando a vincere il titolo nazionale a coppie nel 1949.
Sposato con Borghild Myhre (24 maggio 1884 - 22 febbraio 1947), scomparve a Kristiansad il 9 novembre 1961.
Ferdinand Bie was born February 18, 1888 in Drammen, a town about 40 kilometres
southwest of the capital and he was a great Norwegian athlete who won the gold

Degree in medicine became a surgeon who worked in Kristiansand and became interested the Bridge in becoming President of the Norwegian Bridge Federation for 10 years and going on to win the national title in pairs in 1949.
Married with Borghild Myhre (May 24, 1884 - February 22, 1947), he disappeared in Kristiansand November 9, 1961.
