Carol Channing, che nacque a Seattle il 31 gennaio del 1921 ma che due settimane dopo era già a San Francisco, è stata un attrice e cantante statunitense di enorme successo che nel corso della sua lunghissima vita ha collezionato tre premi Tony ed un Golden Globe.

Figlia unica, a San Francisco frequentò l'Aptos Middle School e la Lowell High School prima di trasferirsi nel Vermont dove frequentò il collegio Bennington studiando danza e recitazione.

Fu un'occasionale giocatrice di bridge e scomparve nella sua casa di Palm Spring il 21 gennaio del 2019.

He married four times and had a son and adopted a second one.

She was an occasional bridge player and disappeared into her Palm Spring home on January 21, 2019.

In her honor, the lights of Broadway were turned off for a minute.
