Simon Cope è nato il 17 marzo del 1982 a Elstree nell'hinterland londinese, ha frequentato la locale Haberdashers Aske's Boys School e si è laureato presso l'Università di Leeds.
In virtù dei suoi studi, Simon parla speditamente anche l'italiano ed il francese.
Scapolo, oggi vive a Radlett e frequenta tutti i circoli londinesi.
Ha conosciuto il bridge casualmente quando era studente tredicenne e il fuoco si accese rapidamente. Coach della nazionale inglese che ha vinto l'argento alle Olimpiadi del 2008 ed il bronzo ai Campionati Europei a Squadre Open del 2014, ha allenato anche la nazionale giovanile.
Nel 2018 ha vinto il Silodor e la Gold Cup.
Insegnante e giocatore professionista, ama giocare a tennis, a golf e fare ginnastica.

He knew the bridge accidentally when he was a thirteen student and fire was kindled quickly. Coach of the England team that won silver at the 2008 Olympics and the bronze in 2014 European Open Teams, he also coached the National Youth.
In 2018 he won the Silodor at the spring NABC and the Gold Cup.
Teacher and professional player, he enjoys playing tennis, golf and gym.
