Tim Cope è nato a Londra il 20 maggio del 1954, ma si è trasferito in Sud Africa nel 1981 ed oggi vive a Cape Town.
Ha imparato il bridge dai nonni quando aveva 12 anni ed ha rappresentato l'Università di Cambridge vincendo il suo primo Campionato Inglese nel 1972 entrando a far parte della Nazionale Juniores inglese.
Oggi è uno dei migliori giocatori sud africani e fa parte del giro della Nazionale di quel Paese.
Il suo miglior ricordo è quello di aver battuto il Nuovo Blue Team nei quarti di Finale della Bermuda Bowl del 2007.

He learned bridge from grandparents when he was 12 years and has represented the University of Cambridge and won his first British Championship in 1972 by joining the National Junior English.
Today is one of the best players in South Africa and is part of the national team of that country.
His best memory is of having beaten the New Blue Team in the quarter-final of the Bermuda Bowl in 2007.
