Edwin Hall  DOWNES

 Edwin Hall Downes è nato nel 1897 a Dover nell'Ohio ed è stato uno scrittore ed un insegnante di Bridge tra i più famosi del suo tempo.

 Sposato con Hazel Isabelle Kline (1902-1986), fu citato da Culbertson dopo che aveva scritto un libro sul suo Sistema Dichiarativo e lo contro citò accusandolo di aver esortato i librai a non vendere il suo libro.

 Al termine della querelle, Edwin vinse entrambe le cause e la Corte sentenziò che il nome di un Sistema è di dominio pubblico e la sentenza fece storia in molti casi di analoghe contestazioni.

 Morì a Pittsburgh nel 1976.

Married Hazel Isabelle Kline (1902-1986), was quoted by Culbertson after he had written a book about his system and he accusing him of having urged the booksellers not to sell his book.

After the controversy, Edwin won both the causes and the Court ruled that the name of a system is in the public domain and the judgment made history in many cases of similar disputes.

He died in Pittsburgh in 1976.
