Espen Erichsen was born in Bergen on July 11, 1971 and lives in Royal Tunbridge Wells a town about 60 km south of London since 1997.
He studied at the Gymnasium Fana in Bergen and is married to Helen Knott, also her a valid bridge player who often played in pairs with her husband and who won in 2024 the Women Champion Cup.
They have two daughters, Claudia and Eve.
Espen learned bridge during his military service in Norway and was highlighted by winning the silver at the World Juniors Pairs Championships of 1995, gold in the European Juniors Teams Championships in 1996 followed by silver in the Juniors World Teams Championships of 1997.
In 1998 he won the silver in the IMSA Pairs Championships and in 1999 the gold at the IMSA Championships Pairs Duplicate and at Multiple Teams Championships, in add on the same year he won the bronze in Swiss Teams.
In 2005 he won the Mixed European Championships playing in pairs with his wife Helen, who learned the game around thirty years from his father, that won the Tollemache Cup in 2018 and who remains one of the few examples of successful bridge player who have not started at an early age.
Last success the Jacoby in 2019 and the 4th European Winter Games in 2023 and the European Winter BAM nel 2024.
Espen also loves to golf and tennis.
