Frits Wilhelm Goudsmit è nato ad Amsterdam il 28 luglio del 1989 e con il fratello Ernst è stato uno dei dominatori degli albori del bridge europeo.
Entrambi i fratelli erano avvocati e per hobby redattori della rivista Bridge che nel primo numero post guerra dedicò un loro famoso articolo ai compagni di squadra scomparsi durante il conflitto e in particolare a Bolo Einhorn che era deceduto in un campo nazista.
Giocando in coppia con il fratello ha conquistato ai Campionati Europei a Squadre Open la medaglia d'argento nel 1932, 1933, 1934 e quella di bronzo nel 1936,e 1938 e 1955.
Dal matrimonio con Ella Grethe Henriq Pimentel è nato l'unico figlio Erik.
Morì ad Amsterdam il 25 agosto del 1971.

Amsterdam on July 28, 1989, with his brother Ernst was one of the rulers of
the early days of European bridge.
Both brothers were lawyers and hobby editors of "Bridge" magazine that in the first number post-war devoted a their famous article to teammates disappeared during the conflict and in particular to Bolo Einhorn who had died in a Nazi camp.
Playing in pairs with her brother won the European Championships for Teams Open the silver medal in 1932, 1933 and 1934 and the bronze in 1936, 1938 and 1955.
From the marriage with Ella Grethe Henriq Pimentel was born the only son Erik.
He died in Amsterdam on 25 August 1971.
