Neila
Djamal Guellaty è nata
a Tunisi e domiciliata a La Marsa nei pressi della capitale
tunisina, è una delle poche giocatrici del suo Paese conosciute all'estero
grazie alla sua incredibile capacità di organizzare completamente da sola il
Festival di Hammamet.
In Tunisia non si contano più di 300 giocatori ed
organizzare una manifestazione di carattere internazionale è davvero una grande
impresa.
Figlia
di un bridgista si è caparbiamente rifiutata di imparare il gioco fin quando
all'età di 25 anni fu coinvolta dall'ufficio del turismo per l'organizzazione
del Festival del Mediterraneo a Djerba.
Insegnante di lettere moderne, è sposata, ha due figli e,
oltre a giocare ed insegnare il bridge, fa anche l'editrice.
Ha vinto tutti i titoli tunisini.

La Tunisie compte 300 bridgeurs (an 2008) dont 200 sont
licenciés sur 10 millions d’habitants. Il y a cinq clubs dont quatre à Tunis (y
compris le siège de la fédération où les joueurs se rassemblent fréquemment) et
un à Sousse.
Actuellement, il y a une volonté de former des jeunes,
certains bridgeurs s’investissent et donnent des cours à une vingtaine
d’étudiants.
Dominique Pilon intervient également. Nous allons même
envoyer une délégation dans cette catégorie aux Mondiaux de Pékin.
La Fédération mondiale va nous aider à organiser un
entraînement. Cette arrivée d’une nouvelle génération m’a réconciliée avec le
bridge.
J’essaie de m’impliquer, en jouant avec eux. Le jeu en
lui-même, j’oublie tout dès que j’ai 13 cartes en main, c’est une thérapie
extraordinaire. Ça rend plus intelligent ou plus idiot ! On a l’impression
d’atteindre un but immédiat, la faute ou la satisfaction : ça prend les tripes.
Il y a aussi l’idée appartenance. Partout dans le monde je connais quelqu’un,
dans n’importe quel pays. J’appartiens à une famille mondiale.
