Simeon Harold "Tim" Holland è nato il 3 marzo del 1931 a Rockville Centre (New York) e ha imparato a giocare a bridge e a golf in giovanissima età.
Trasferitosi in Florida e laureatosi in economia aziendale, eccezionalmente dotato per il golf giocò per oltre 20 anni mantenendosi grazie alle scommesse vinte sul prato.
Accanito fumatore, si è sposato almeno quattro volte ed ha avuto due figli.
A quel tempo il golf non rendeva abbastanza e così Tim abbandonò l'idea di diventare un golfista professionista e si dedicò al back gammon vincendo il primo dei suoi tre campionati mondiali nel 1967.
Dopo aver scritto un paio di libri di back gammon è stato il Presidente del Park 65 Backgammon Club e, quando verso la fine dello scorso secolo, il gioco perse il suo appeal popolare, rispolverò la vecchia conoscenza con il bridge e giocò da professionista fino alla sua morte avvenuta a causa di un enfisema polmonare il 10 marzo del 2010 a West Palm Beach.

He moved to Florida and graduated in business administration, exceptionally gifted for golf, he played for over 20 years, maintaining himself thanks to the bets won on the lawn.
An avid smoker, he married at least four times and had two children.
Golf was not doing enough at the time, so Tim abandoned the idea of becoming a professional golfer and devoted himself to back gammon by winning the first of his three world championships in 1967.
After writing a couple of back gammon books he was the President of Park 65 Backgammon Club and, when towards the end of the last century, the game lost its popular appeal, he dusted off his old knowledge with bridge and played as a professional until his death due to pulmonary emphysema on March 10, 2010 in West Palm Beach.
