Valentin KOVACHEV

  Valentin Kovachev Al-Shati è nato il 6 maggio del 1964 a Sofia in Bulgaria ed è un giocatore professionista che ha vinto le maggiori competizioni nazionali.

 Valio si è diplomato alla Scuola Superiore Ivan Vazov e si è laureato in economia all'Università di Sofia, parla inglese, russo e portoghese e oggi vive a Las Vegas con la moglie Billiana Raikova.

 Nella città americana del gioco ha fondato il Valbridge Club.

 É stato proprietario di "M. Bridge" uno dei più popolari club bulgari, è stato il coach della nazionale femminile del suo Paese per oltre sette anni ed ha guidato in alcune occasioni anche la squadra open.

 Vincitore di diversi titoli nazionali, sul piano internazionale ha vinto la Schapiro Cup in Inghilterra e ha guadagnato diversi piazzamenti tra cui ricordiamo la seconda piazza della NEC CUP a Squadre nel 2012.

 Ha rappresentato in diverse occasioni la nazionale bulgara conquistando un 4º posto nella Champion Cup del 2003 e nei Campionati Europei a Squadre del 2008.

 Nel 2013 ha vinto il Wernher Trophy.

  Valentin (Val/Valio) Kovachev (born May 6, 1964 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian professional bridge player.

 Valio graduated from Ivan Vazov High School and graduated in economics at the University of Sofia, speaks English, Portuguese and Russian and today lives in Las Vegas with his wife Billiana Raikova where he founded the Valbridge Club.

 Valio was the owner of “M Bridge” – the most popular bridge club in Bulgaria.

 He was creator and coach of the Bulgarian National Women’s Team for about seven years and he was also trainer and coach and NPC for the BG Open Team 2004 in Malmoe and Istanbul.

 Valio managed more than 150 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd finishers in official tournaments in BG and abroad. He won the Open National Team Trials three times, ranked as GNT in USA with the right to represent Bulgaria at international events. He consistently ranks in the top 3 finishers at the National Open Pairs and Open Team Championship and he also won the Mixed Pairs Championship.

He won several international titles among which is Monte Carlo ‘2002, Mercin Turkey’2002, Tel Aviv Israel’2003, Istanbul Turkey’2004, Stratford Upon Avon England’2005, “Gran Prix” of Poland’2006, (Nec Cup Yokohama’2010, 2011, 2012), Antalya Turkey’2011.

He represented BG at the Maastricht’2000 Olympiad, at the Champions’ League in Rome’2003 (4^th) and at the European Champs in Pau, France’2008 (4^th).

He won 2013 Wernher Trophy in Summer NABC.
