Anthony Joseph Edward Lucardie nacque il 13 luglio del 1875 a Leeuwarden il capoluogo Frisone.
Completati gli studi superiori nella sua città, entrò nell'Accademia Militare di Breda e poi nell'esercito dove si ritagliò il grado di Luogotenente Colonnello.
Nel 1913 si sposò a Utrecht con Carolina Adriana Johanna Franken.
Fu membro del Consiglio Comunale di Rijswijk, un sobborgo dell'Aia dove si trasferì a vivere.
Conobbe il bridge in casa dove si giocava molto whist ed un poco a una forma primitiva di bridge. Si appassionò a quest'ultimo al punto che divenne uno dei fondatori sia della Federazione Olandese che della nascitura Lega Europea.
Quando nel 1938 si ritirò, la lega olandese contava già 3000 membri, un buon viatico se si pensa che oggi ne conta quasi centomila!
Valente giocatore, vinse l'argento agli europei a squadre del 1934.
Scomparve nella sua casa di famiglia il 5 maggio del 1954.
Anthony Joseph Edward Lucardie was born on July 13, 1875 in
Leeuwarden, the Frisian capital.
After completing his high school studies in his hometown, he entered the Military Academy of Breda and then into the army where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1913 he married Carolina Adriana Johanna Franken in Utrecht.
He was a member of the City Council of Rijswijk, a suburb of The Hague where he moved to live.
He knew bridge at home where a lot of whist was played and a little to a primitive form of bridge. He became passionate about the latter to the point that he became one of the founders of both the Dutch Federation and the nascent European League.
When he retired in 1938, the Dutch league already had 3,000 members, a good viaticum if you think that today it has almost a hundred thousand!
Very good player, won silver at the 1934 European team championships.
He disappeared in his family home on May 5, 1954.
