Hugh Mc Lean è nato nel 1938 ed è stato un giocatore di spicco dell'area del Minnesota, proprietario di Bridge Club e coordinatore delle attività del Distretto 14.
Nel 1997 si trasferì nel Texas con la moglie Mary Anne dove morì nel sonno a Gonzales il 17 aprile del 2007 a causa di un probabile attacco di cuore.
Come giocatore vinse il Nail Life Master Pairs nel 1970 ed il Mitchell nel 1974.

In 1997 he moved to Texas with his wife Mary Anne, where he died in his sleep in Gonzales 2007, 17 April because of a probable heart attack.
As a player he won the Nail Life Master Pairs in 1970 and Mitchell in 1974..
