Howard A. Merblun è nato nel 1918 ed ha partecipato alla seconda guerra mondiale combattendo in Algeria ed in Italia con il grado di luogotenente.

 Sposato con Ruth ha avuto un figlio Frank, con cui ha formato una delle più ammirate coppie di bridge del Connecticut.

 Ex presidente dell'Hartford Bridge Club, è anche stato un fine amante delle belli arti e un cultore di musica classica, di musica operistica e di letteratura.

 Howard è scomparso novantenne nella sua West Hartford il 5 marzo del 2008.

 Suo figlio Franklin P. Merblum è nato il 25 gennaio del 1949 a West Hartford nel Connecticut ed ha studiato alla Hall High School di West Hartford e all'Università del Connecticut dove si è laureato nel 1971.

 Ha lavorato presso una compagnia di assicurazioni sulla vita  ed oggi vive a Bloomfield con la moglie Susan che gli ha dato due figlie.

 Specialista del Mitchell, ha vinto tre NABC's prima di trionfare nel GNT del 2016.

 Entrambi i genitori di Howard e Frank erano degli appassionati bridgisti.

Howard disappeared nonagenarian in his West Hartford on March 5, 2008.

His son Franklin P. Merblum was born January 25, 1949 in Manchester in central Connecticut and studied at Hall High School in West Hartford and the University of Connecticut where he he graduated in 1971.

He worked at an Insurance Life Company and now lives in Bloomfield with his wife Susan who gave him two daughters.

Specialist in Mitchell, he won three NABC's before earning the victory in the GNT 2016.

Both Howard and Frank's parents were passionate bridge players.
