Kiran Tandan Nadar was born on May 3, 1951 from a family of passionate Indian bridge players who taught her to play when she was only 9 years old with their three-year-old brother Gokul sitting at their table.
Kiran is the wife of Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL, and is a successful World Women International Master who, in 2003, set up the famous HCL international tournament together with her husband, which thanks to his sponsorship is one of the richest around and certainly the richest in India.
Kiran is part of the "Formidables" team that has won several national titles and has repeatedly defended Indian colors in international competitions by winning the fifteenth edition of the BFAME Championships in 2009.
Two of the main titles awarded during the HCL International Bridge Championships are dedicated to the memory of Kiran's parents, Naresh Tandan, who was an engineer who spent much of his working life at Voltas, and Mohini Tandan.
