Guido Resta è nato a Milano nel 1942 ma si è poi trasferito a Bergamo.
Laureato in Ingegneria Elettrotecnica al Politecnico di Milano, industriale, componente del CD della FIB, ha guidato le nazionali azzurre a diversi successi tra i quali brilla l'argento nella Bermuda Bowl del 1983.
Sposato con Anna ha avuto 4 figli: Ferruccio, Leopoldo Monica e Luisa.
Ha anche guidato la nazionale femminile al bronzo nella Venice Cup del 1987 e all'argento negli Europei a Squadre del 2008 e di nuovo al bronzo negli Europei Transnazionali del 2009.
Sempre da Capitano non Giocatore ha vinto l'oro ai Campionati Open a Squadre del MEC del 1983.
Come giocatore ha collezionato diversi podi italiani ed è stato alfiere della Nazionale Seniore.
Oltre al Bridge ha amato il Golf e la Pesca.
Guido ci ha lasciati dopo una faticosa malattia il 4 settembre del 2025.
Guido Resta was born in Milan in 1942 but later moved to
Bergamo.
A graduate in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan, an industrialist, and a member of the FIB Board of Directors, he led the Italian national team to several victories, including a silver medal in the 1983 Bermuda Bowl.
Married to Anna, he had four children: Ferruccio, Leopoldo Monica, and Luisa.
He also led the women's national team to bronze at the 1987 Venice Cup and silver at the 2008 European Team Championships, and again to bronze at the 2009 Transnational European Championships.
Also as a non-Playing Captain, he won gold at the 1983 MEC Open Team Championships.
As a player, he achieved several Italian podiums and was a flag bearer for the Senior National Team.
In addition to Bridge, he enjoyed golf and fishing.
Guido left us after a tiring illness on September 4, 2025.
