Peter Schaltz è nato nel 1950 ed oggi vive a Nyborg una cittadina marinara sull'isola danese di Funen la cui comunità municipale, dopo aver recentemente inglobato altri due comuni, conta oltre 30.000 abitanti.

Peter è figlio d'arte, suo padre Jorgen Elit Schaltz (1914 - 2003) era un allenatore di tennis e pluri campione nazionale mentre sua madre, Lizzie Schaltz, oltre ad aver vinto diversi titoli nazionali in coppia con il marito, ha vinto l'oro hai Campionati Europei Femminili del 1955 ed il bronzo alle Olimpiadi del 1960.
Lavora da sempre in campo enologico ed oggi ha un sua azienda la Østjysk Vinforsyning nella quale è impegnata anche la figlia Anne Mette.
È sposato con Dorthe una grande campionessa danese; assieme, hanno vinto nel 1993 l'argento nei Campionati Europei a Squadre Open, nel 2013 il bronzo ai Campionati Europei a Squadre Miste, nel 2022 il bronzo nel D'Orsi Cup che poi hanno vinto l'anno successivo.
Dorthe e Peter sono gli unici coniugi ad essere saliti su un podio negli European National Open.
Peter che ha giocato più di 500 incontri per i colori della sua nazionale ha conquistato due argenti ai Campionati Europei Open nel 1979 e, in coppia con la moglie, nel 1993. Ha anche vinto i Campionati del MEC a Squadre Miste nel 1989 e ha guadagnato un bronzo alle Olimpiadi del 1984.

Nella Categoria Senior ha vinto l'argento nell'Europeo a Squadre del 2010.
In squadra con la moglie e il figlio Martin Schaltz hanno guadagnato il bronzo nella Coppia dei Campioni del 2014.
Anche sua figlia Anne Mette Reumert Schaltz ha fatto parte delle Nazionali giovanili del suo Paese.
Anne Mette, che ha studiato legge presso l'Università di Copenaghen, è sposata con un figlio e vive con la famiglia nella capitale lavorando come consulente legale.

Peter is the son of art, his father Jorgen Schaltz Elit (1914 - 2003) was a tennis coach and multiple National Champion and his mother, Lizzie Schaltz, in addition to winning several national titles in pairs with her husband, has won the gold medal at 1955 European Women's Championship.
He has always worked in the wine industry and his company now has the Østjysk Vinforsyning engaged which is also the daughter of Anne Mette.
He is married to a great champion Dorthe Danish, together they won the silver medal in the 1993 European Open Teams Championships, in 2022 D'Orsi Cup which they then won the following year.
Dorthe and Peter are the only married pairs to be got on a podium in the European Open Teams.
Peter has played over 500 matches for the colors of his national team and he won two silver medals at 1979 European Open Teams Championships and, teamed with his wife, in 1993.
He also won the MEC Mixed Teams Championships in 1989 and earned a bronze medal at the 1984 Olympiads.
In the Senior category he won silver in the 2010 European Teams.
His son Martin is now ready to take over as the third generation in the “bridge family”. He won the Junior Olympics (2002), earning a bronze medal in the 2001 Junior World Championships, silver in the subsequent (2003) and finally get the gold in 2008.
Teammated with wife and Martin, they earned the bronze in 2014 Champion's Cup.
His daughter Anne Mette Reumert studied law at university of Copenaghen, has been part of the Youth National Denmark and today lives whit her husband and her child, in the capital where she is legal adviser.
