Marit Sveaas (1920 -1991) was a leading figure in Oslo’s lively bridge community in the 60’s and 70’s. Her club, KNA, hosted the best female players in Oslo and Marit represented the city of Oslo in challenges with other Scandinavian cities 11 times.
Also, she represented Norway internationally and when the Norwegian ladies won its first Nordic Title in 1973, Marit played on the team. Beside, Marit won the silver medal in the European Women Pairs of 1976.
Marit represented fair play and good spirit at the bridge table, and new players were heartily welcomed by Marit.
To remember Marit, her son Christen Sveaas, will support the NBF in organizing the Marit Sveaas International Bridge Tournament for the next 20 years.
The NBF will like to thank Christen Sveaas for his commitment and support.
Kistefos Træsliberi was founded by Christen Sveaas’s grandfather, Anders Sveaas, in 1889 and after being sold out of the family, bought back by Christen Sveaas in 1993. It is now organized as a museum, sculpture park and art exhibition.
The week before Marit Sveaas International Bridge Tournament there is the Norwegian Bridge Festival.
