Fred  VINSON

 

 Frederik Moore Vinson è nato il 22 gennaio del 1922 a Louisa nel Kentucky dove, dopo essersi laureato, esercitò la professione di avvocato.

 Dopo aver partecipato alla prima Guerra Mondiale nel 1924 sposò Roberta Dixon che gli diede due figli.

 Democratico, è stato un eminente uomo politico,  Ministro e Presidente della Corte di Giustizia degli Stati Uniti.

 Durante la Presidenza Eisenhower ha partecipato più volte al tavolo di bridge del Presidente, così come partecipò più volte a quello di Poker del Presidente Truman.

 Scomparve prematuramente a causa di un infarto l'8 settembre del 1953 nella sua casa di Washington.

  Frederick "Fred" Moore Vinson (Louisa - January 22, 1890) was an American politician who served the United States in all three branches of government and was the most prominent member of the Vinson political family.

In the legislative branch, he was an elected member of the United States House of Representatives from Louisa, Kentucky, for twelve years.

In the executive branch, he was the Secretary of Treasury under President Harry S. Truman. In the judicial branch, in 1946 President Truman appointed Vinson the 13th Chief Justice of the United States. As of 2015, he is the last candidate nominated by a president from the Democratic Party to be confirmed as Chief Justice (Lyndon Johnson unsuccessfully nominated Abe Fortas as Chief Justice in 1968, but Fortas later withdrew his name from consideration).

During President Eisenhower he has participated several times a bridge table of the President, as well as participated in several times that of Poker President Truman.

Vinson died suddenly and unexpectedly on September 8, 1953, from a heart attack at his Washington home.
