Charles "Charlie" Weed was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May
31, 1931.
He was educated at St. John Berchmans Catholic School and graduated from Louisiana State University before serving as a communications specialist stationed in Japan during the Korean War.
After the war
he moved into sales eventually becoming Executive Vice President
of Southland Paint Company and later CEO of Michigan General.
In his youth he successfully played football, baseball and
basketball, then took up golf and gardening.
Widowed by Charlotte Morgan who bore him two children, he was a major contributor to 1960s bridge as both a teacher and administrator and was also a member of the Aces.
As a player he has won a couple of NABCs including the 1975 Grand National Teams and in 2001 he captained the USA women's team that won bronze at the 2001 Venice Cup.
Charlie passed away in his city on December 18, 2020.
