Jon Baldursson è nato il 23 dicembre del 1954 a Reykjavik da una numerosa famiglia il cui padre era impegnato nell'industria della pesca, fa il contabile ed è uno dei giocatori che hanno vissuto la favola di portare un titolo mondiale in Islanda (l'unico nella storia di tutto lo sport islandese!).
Sposato dal 1983 con Elin Bjarnadottir che gli ha dato due figli (ne hanno adottato un terzo) è sempre stato uno sportivo convinto che mantenere una buona forma fisica aiuti anche i risultati bridgistici ed è anche un discreto golfista.
Lavora presso la Icelandair Cargo.
Ha iniziato a giocare al liceo quando aveva 18 anni e l'anno dopo, ha iniziato a frequentare con i suoi colleghi i club bridgistici locali.

Due anni più tardi entrava nella Nazionale Juniores islandese e l'anno successivo in quella maggiore.
Dopo aver vinto il Campionato Nordico del 1988 e conquistato alcuni prestigiosi piazzamenti come il secondo posto al Cavendish Pairs del 1989 e la quarta piazza agli Europei del 1991, nello stesso anno stupiva l'intero mondo bridgistico vincendo la Bermuda Bowl.
World Life Master, nel 1996 vinceva il Transnational Mixed Teams, nel 1994 vinceva il Campionato del Mondo Individuale per Master e nel 2013 vinceva il Jacoby.
Pluricampione d'Islanda e Nordico, Jon è scomparso il 15 settembre del 2023.
Elin Bjarnadottir è nata il 3 gennaio del 1956 ed ha fatto parte del BI Executive Committee della WBF.

Married to Elin Bjarnadottir who gave him two children (they have adopted a third) has always been an athlete believes that maintaining good physical results can also help bridge player and is also a decent golfer. He worked at Icelandair Cargo.
He started playing in high school when he was 18 and the year after, he began attending with his fellow bridge players the local clubs.
Two years later he entered the National Junior Icelandic and the following year in the higher.
After winning the Nordic Championship in 1988 and earning several prestigious second place at the Cavendish Pairs (1989) and fourth place at Euro 1991, the same year astonished the whole world bridge player, winning the Bermuda Bowl.
Worl Life Master, he has won Transnational Mixed Teams (1996), the Individual World Championship for Masters (1994) and the Jacoby Swiss teams (2013).
Multiple champion of Iceland and Nordic, Jon passed away on 15 September 2023.
