Marcello Bardola è nato nel 1925 a Genova ma ha passato la gran parte della sua vita in svizzera dove ha lavorato come attuario per la Zurich Assicurazioni.
É stato uno dei miglio giocatori svizzeri ed ha rappresentato più volte la nazionale elvetica vincendo un bronzo agli Europei a Squadre del 1962 che resta a tutt'oggi l'unica medaglia vinta in quella competizione dalla Svizzera.
In campo nazionale ha vinto 5 volte il Campionato a Squadre Open e 4 volte quello a Coppie Open ed ha collaborato con diversi giornali e riviste come scrittore di bridge.
Nel 1984 congiuntamente a Max Saesseli e a Stus Jacobi, ha devoluto a fondo perduto una somma destinata alla costituzione del Bridge Corner di Zurigo, un circolo che prese vita l'anno successivo e che ancora oggi è considerato uno dei più belli di tutta la Svizzera.
Dal 1988 al 1994 è anche stato presidente della Federazione Svizzera.
Scomparso a Zurigo nell'aprile del 1999, ha lasciato numerosi saggi sulla teoria del bridge.

but spent most of his
life in Switzerland
where he worked as an
actuary for Zurich
Insurance.
He was one of the best Swiss players and has represented the Swiss national team several times, winning a bronze medal in the 1962 at European Teams Championships, which remains the only medal won in that competition by Switzerland.
In the national field he has won the Open Team Championship 5 times and 4 times the Open Pairs Championship and has collaborated with several newspapers and magazines as a bridge writer.
In 1984, together with Max Saesseli and Stus Jacobi, he donated a sum for the construction of the Bridge Corner in Zurich, a club that took life the following year and is still considered one of the most beautiful in Switzerland.
From 1988 to 1994 he was also president of the Swiss Federation.
He died in Zurich in 1999 and left numerous essays on the bridge theory.
