Bernie Chazen was born in 1942 in Brooklyn and was a well-known player and teacher of American bridge.
After graduating from the City College of New York in 1962, he began his working life as a math teacher at Tilden High School in Brooklyn and then moved to California as a computer programmer for IBM.
Then he started to measure up to the agonistic bridge by collecting competitive in years 5 NABC, among which the Mitchell in 1971.
In 1980 decided to pursue a career as a teacher of bridge specializing in bridge cruise.
After living for a long time in Tamarac, Florida, in the last part of his life he moved to Boca Raton, where he lived together with his girlfriend Ruthie.
He disappeared on January 27, 2009 due to complications arising from diabetes.
