Massimo Dato è nato a Roma il 4 giugno del 1946, ha frequentato il Liceo Classico Mameli e si è laureato in Architettura alla Sapienza.
Imprenditore e libero professionista, si è sposato con Barbara Fieri, altra nota bridgista romana, che gli ha dato due figli.
Ha livello internazionale ha guadagnato un oro ai Campionati del MEC a Squadre Juniores nel 1971.
In campo nazionale ha collezionato diversi piazzamenti ed ha vinto il Coppie Miste nel 1978, lo Squadre Open nel 1989, la Coppa Italia Open nel 1995, la Coppa Italia a Squadre Miste nel 2005.

Sapienza.
Entrepreneur and freelancer, he married Barbara Fieri, other known Roman bridge player, who gave him two sons.
At international level he gained a gold in the Championships MEC Juniors Teams in 1971.
Ay national level he collected several placings and won the Mixed Pairs in 1978, the Open Teams in 1989, the Italy Open Cup in 1995 and the Italy Mixed Cup in 2005.
