Gérard Desrousseaux was born in 1927 in Paris and was one of the most representative players across the Alps during the '60s of last century.
He won the European Championships in 1962 and finished second in the 1967 and third in 1963 and 1979.
World Masters, won several national titles, was part of the National Transalpine several times and won the World Pairs Championships in 1963.
Gerard also won the Common Market Open Teams Championships and the Mixed Teams in 1973 and the same year, captained the French Women Team that won the bronze. In Biarritz he won the Open Pair in 1987.
Teacher, writer and journalist, disappeared in 1989.
His wife Ursula Desroussezux was also a bridge player of international stature, while their son Christian Desrousseaux born in 1965, was a young champion of great thickness who managed to win two European Championships Junior Teams (1984 and 1988), the Common Market of 1985 and two silvers (1986 and 1987) plus a bronze (1989) at the Junior Worlds Teams, in addition to dozens of tournaments in international pairs, always playing with different partners.
Extroverted and uncontrollable at the gaming table, he was disappointed by the high-level bridge environment and decided to lay down his cards to devote himself to music and theater.
