William John Devine was born in Brooklyn on April 27, 1940 and studied at St. Anselm Priory of Washington and at the University of Maryland.
John has been a successful manager of Toys R U.S. which helped to develop the company and taking it from 4 stores $ 10M in sales to 200 stores with a billion in revenue.
Once retired, in 1983, he moved with his partner Jan Gallagher and 4 children, first in the Dominican Republic and then, since 1997 in San Diego where he died on February 17, 2014 after fighting a long battle with leukemia.
John was a national level player who, among other titles, has twice won the Jacoby (1985 and 1987).
