Tommy Flowers è nato il 22 dicembre del 1905 a Londra, di umili origini consegui la laurea in ingegneria elettronica frequentando dei corsi serali.
Sposato con Margaret Green, ebbe due figli, Tommy fu l'uomo che progettò il primo calcolatore elettronico esistente al mondo, il famoso Colossus che fu usato per decriptare i messaggi tedeschi durante l'ultima guerra.
Per i suoi meriti in campo tecnologico Tommy fu nominato nel 1943 Membro dell'Ordine dell'Impero Britannico.
Morì il 28 ottobre del 1998 e per gran parte della sua vita fu un appassionato giocatore di bridge.

Married to Margaret Green, he had two sons, Tommy was the man who designed the world's first electronic computer, the famous Colossus that was used to decrypt the German messages during the last war.
For his technological merits, Tommy was appointed in 1943 as a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
He died on 28 October 1998 and for most of his life he was a passionate bridge player.
