Mario Franco (1919-1994), milanese, World Master, è stato uno dei migliori giocatori italiani a cavallo della metà dello scorso secolo.
Ha vinto i Campionati Europei a Squadre Open del 1951, arrivando all'argento in quelli del 1952 e del 1955. Stesso metallo che ha conquistato alla Bermuda Bowl del 1951.
Sempre sul piano internazionale ha vinto l'oro nei Campionati Europei a Coppie Senior del 1989.
Sul piano nazionale ha vinto una messe di titoli tra i quali ricordiamo i Campionati a Squadre Miste del 1948, 1954, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, le Coppa Italia del 1955 e 1958, i Campionati a Squadre Libere del 1955, 1965 e i Campionati a Coppie Libere del 1966.

He won the European Teams Championships in 1951, coming to silver in those of 1952 and 1955. The same metal that he has won the Bermuda Bowl of 1951.
Also on the international level he has won gold in the European Senior's Pairs Championships in 1989.
Domestically he won a wealth of titles among which the Mixed Team Championships in 1948, 1954, 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1969, the Italy Cup in 1955 and 1958, the Italian Teams Championships of the 1955 and 1965 and the Italian Pairs Championships of 1966.
