Steve Goldberg è nato nel 1945 ed ha formato per qualche tempo una coppia di grande successo con il prematuramente scomparso campione Lou Bluhm vincendo due NABC, la Spingold del 1974 e la Reisinger del 1972.

 Sposato con Suni, dopo aver vissuto a Dalton si era da tempo trasferito a Las Vegas.

 Steve che aveva abbandonato da molto tempo il bridge agonistico dopo aver fatto parte alcune volte della nazionale USA, è scomparso il 27 ottobre del 2017 a Las Vegas.

 Gli è sopravvissuta la madre, un'appassionata bridgista, che vive a San Francisco con una delle sorelle di Steve.
