Gaston Jollivet è nato a Parigi il 18 ottobre del 1842 ed è stato un giornalista, scrittore e drammaturgo francese.
Sposato con Henriette de Venoge divenne avvocato e contribuì al successo del giornale "Le Gaulois" e durante la sua vita collaborò con molte altre testate.
Amico intimo dei coniugi Houssaye, grazie al suo interessamento il bridge sbarcò prima al Circolo dell'Unione Artistica e di lì nei principali club della capitale.
Scomparve a Parigi il 13 ottobre del 1927.
