Filip Kurbalija è nato nel 1954 nel Galles ed è stato un giocatore di prima classe del suo Paese che viveva a Pontprennau non lontano da Cardiff assieme alla moglie Diana Kurbalijaa anche lei ottima giocatrice.
Entrambi furono alfieri delle proprie rappresentative nazionali spesso giocando insieme e in coppia vinsero il Teltscher Trophy del 2020.
Filip partecipò ad una Rosenblum ed a 5 Campionati Europei Open ed ad uno Senior, mentre, sul piano nazionale vinse, tra l'altro, 4 volte lo Spring Fours
Filip scomparve dopo una breve malattia il 30 dicembre del 2021.
