Rhoda Ann Spangenberg Lederer detta "Deedy" nacque il 10 dicembre del 1939 a Cleveland nell'Ohio ma si trasferì molto presto con la famiglia a Winnetka una città dell'Illinois poco a nord di Chicago.
A 16 anni si trasferì con la madre a Darien nel Connecticut ma studiò al Wellesley College prendendo una laurea con lode in Economia seguito da un Master in Educazione preso, invece, al Radcliff.
Nel 1962 si stabilisce a Concord nel New Hampshire dove il suo primo marito Richard Lederer insegna al Concord High School e dove nasce il loro primo figlio.
Rhoda ha uno spirito irrequieto e si diletta nel diventare un'esperta di cruciverba e di giochi di carte, una passione che condivide con il marito e che trasmetterà a due dei suoi tre figli che diverranno dei professionisti del poker.
In questi anni i Lederers impareranno ed insegneranno il bridge.
Nel 1984 Deedy muove alla volta di New York con un giovane attore che diverrà il suo secondo marito, Dale Parry e lavora in alcuni studi cinematografici e teatrali arrivando a calcare le scende del celebre Crucible.
Dieci anni più tardi si sposterà a Las Vegas dove lavorerà nel mondo dello spettacolo assieme ad uno dei suoi figli per poi partecipare attivamente alla campagna elettorale della Clinton.
Concluderà la sua fantasmagorica e meravigliosa vita nell'ospedale Summerlin di Las Vegas il 4 marzo del 2011 dopo una lunga battaglia con una malattia cronica.
Richard Lederer è nato il 26 maggio del 1938 a Philadelphia ed è conosciuto oltre che per aver insegnato il bridge con la moglie, come esperto di cruciverba, anagrammi ed altri giochi di parole.
Dopo essersi laureato ad Harvard ha insegnato per quasi 30 anni alla St. Paul School di Concord.
Ha anche preso un PhD in Linguistica all'Università del New Hampshire.
Dei tre figli avuto con Deedy, Howard ed Annie (sposata Duke) sono divenuti professionisti del poker, mentre, Katy e diventata una scrittrice e poetessa.
Richard oggi vive a San Diego in California.

was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Cleveland, to a
lawyer and a homemaker who moved to to Winnetka, Ill. shortly thereafter.
At the age of 16, Deedy moved with her mother to Darien, Conn. She earned a bachelor's in economics Magna cum Laude from Wellesley and a masters in education from Radcliffe before settling in Concord, N.H. in 1962 with her first husband, who accepted a teaching position at St. Paul's School.
Deedy taught at Concord High School for two years, but, as was expected at the time, left the profession after having her first child.
To satisfy herself intellectually, she became an expert at crossword puzzles and card games, and developed a voracious reading habit - passions she passed on to her children. She also pursued regional acting, starring in productions of Charlotte's Web, Night of the Iguana, and Guys and Dolls, among others.
After over 20 years of making a home for her family, Deedy moved to New York City in 1984 with a fellow actor who would become her life partner. There, she pursued acting professionally, playing at the Roundabout Theater in the Crucible, among other productions. To support her acting career, she held many interesting day jobs, including classified ads manager at The Village Voice.
In 1994, she moved to Las Vegas to work with her son. In 1998, she moved to Columbus, Mont. to be near one of her daughters and four of her grandchildren; and then, in 2005, back to Las Vegas.
She was a state delegate for Hillary Clinton in 2008, but, disappointed by her loss, she became a late-life independent. Deedy liked nothing better than a lively political debate with family or friends.
Deedy passed away at Summerlin Hospital, Friday, March 4, 2011 after a long battle with a chronic lung condition.
