Anton Baltzer Midsem è nato il 30 agosto del 1867 a Kråkstad un villaggio circa 30 km a sud della capitale ed è morto nel gennaio del 1947.
Professore e autore di numerosi libri di testo in tedesco è stato rettore della scuola latina di
Ålesund e membro del consiglio nazionale per l'istruzione.Teorico e promotore del bridge norvegese, vinse diversi titoli nazionali e nel 1931 le prime Olimpiadi internazionali di bridge organizzate da Culbertson e fu il primo Presidente della Federazione Norvegese.
Scrisse diversi libri sul bridge che vennero tradotti in svedese e in danese.

Professor and author of several textbooks in German has been rector of the Latin School in Ålesund and member of the national council for education.
Theorist and promoter of Norwegian bridge, won several national titles and in 1931 the first international bridge Olympics organized by Culbertson and was the first President of the Norwegian Federation.
He wrote several books on the bridge that were translated into Swedish and Danish.
