Marika Pogany originaria della Slovacchia si era trasferita in Australia nel 1968 ed aveva 82 anni quando č stata barbaramente assassinata nell'attentato di Bondi Beach a Sydney nel dicembre 2025.
Madre e nonna, Marika era una volontaria molto attiva che dedicava molto del suo tempo all'assistenza degli anziani ebrei bisognosi di aiuto, operando nell'ambito del COA per conto del quale aveva personalmente consegnato oltre 15.000 pasti Kosher presso le abitazioni degli assistiti.
Amante del bridge e giocatrice di buon livello, Marika dedicava tutti i martedě pomeriggio al suo hobby presso l'Harbourview Bridge Club di Bellevue Hill.
Marika tornava in Slovacchia ogni anno ed era amica personale dell'ex Presidente Ĉaputová che ha raccontato che gli unici sopravvissuti della sua famiglia all'olocausto nazista furono la madre ed uno zio.

the Bondi Beach bombing in Sydney in December 2025.
A mother and grandmother, Marika was a very active volunteer who dedicated much of her time to assisting elderly Jewish people in need, working for the COA, on whose behalf she personally delivered over 15,000 kosher meals to the homes of those assisted.
A bridge enthusiast and a good player, Marika devoted every Tuesday afternoon to her hobby at the Harbourview Bridge Club in Bellevue Hill.
Marika returned to Slovakia every year and was a personal friend of former President Ĉaputová, who recounted that the only survivors of the Nazi Holocaust in her family were her mother and an uncle.
