Philippe Poizat è nato il 12 gennaio 1946 e vive a Montpellier assieme alla moglie Rokia, un'altra nota bridgista transalpina.
Noto insegnante di Bridge è anche un forte giocatore francese che ha colto le sue migliori affermazioni nella terza età vincendo: i Campionati Europei Seniores a Coppie nel 2003 (argento in quelli del 2009) e i Transnazionali a Squadre nel 2003 (bronzo nel 2004).
Nel 2011 è salito sul tetto del mondo conquistato con i colori del suo Paese la Ernesto D'Orsi Cup e nel 2012 su quello d'Europa.
Oltre ad alcuni titoli nazionali, ha vinto nelle classiche di Biarritz il Coppie Miste nel 1995, il Coppie Open nel 2001 e 2006, e il Patton Scratch nel 2002.
Nel 2012 ha preso il bronzo alle Olimpiadi nello Squadre Senior e nel 2018 ha vinto i Campionati Europei per Squadre Senior.

Philippe est également professeur du Bridge connue d'un joueur fort français qui a pris ses meilleurs états gagnants dans la vieillesse. Il a gagné les Championnat Européen Senior par Paires en 2003 suivie par l'argent en 2009 et les Européen Equipes Transnationales en 2002 suivie par le bronze en 2004.
En 2011, puis a grimpé sur le toit du monde conquis par les couleurs de son pays à Ernesto D'Orsi Coupe et sur le toit d'Europe en 2012 avec Championnat Européen Senior Team.
En plus de plusieurs titres nationaux, il gagné dans les classiques Biarritz les Paires Mixtes en 1995, les Paires Libre en 2001 et 2006, e le Scratch Patton en 2002.
Enfin, il gagné le bronze in 2012 Senior Teams Olympiades et l'or dans le championnat d'Europe par équipes seniors.
