Art Savage was born on July 3, 1951 in Amarillo, Texas and was president and CEO of San Jose Sharks (a hockey team) from 1990 to 1997 and owner of the majority share of the Sacramento Rivers Cats (a baseball team) from 1999 until the day of his disappearance which took place in a Sacramento on 21 November 2009 due to complications arising from lung cancer.
Art acquired in the 2000 also the minor-league Vancouver Canadians moving its headquarters to Sacramento where he had settled with his family and where he had founded the River Cats Foundations dedicated to young people who lived in the area.
Married to Susan, he had two sons, Jeff and Brent, and he was a passionate bridge player who along with his wife participated in the administration of Unit 505.
