François Stretz è nato il 18 ottobre del 1948 a Parigi, vive a Neuilly sur Seine nell'hinterland parigino ed è uno dei migliori giocatori francesi.
François ha studiato a Parigi presso il liceo Saint Luis e si è laureato al Politecnico, sposato è un consulente informatico in pensione.
Oltre a diversi titoli nazionali, ha vinto l'argento nei Campionati Europei a Squadre Miste del 2002 e nei Campionati Europei a Coppie del 1993, mentre, nella Categoria Senior ha vinto il bronzo ai Campionati Europei del 2006 e nei Transnazionali Europei a Squadre Senior l'argento nel 2007, mentre, nel 2023 ha vinto, sempre ai Transnazionali Europei Senior entrambe le competizioni coppie e squadre.
Oltre al bridge François ama le passeggiate, la mountain bike e le parole crociate.
