Johan Sylvan è nato nel 1960 e vive a Stoccolma con sua moglie e con due figlie.

 Si è messo in luce da juniores vincendo un paio di Campionati Nordici di categoria, poi ha cominciato a fare coppia con una legenda del bridge svedese come PO Sundelin e si è affacciato sulla scena internazionale facendo parte alla rappresentativa svedese.

 Tra i suoi successi internazionali si ricordano un secondo posto nella NEC Cup del 2001 e nella Champion Cup del 2003 nonché il terzo posto all'Individuale Maschile dei World Mind Games 2012.

Nel 2015 arriva il risultato più prestigioso con l'argento conquistato nella Bermuda Bowl seguito dall'argento nella prima edizione degli IMSA Elite Mind Games e da quello negli Europei a Squadre Open dell'anno successivo.

 Al di fuori del Bridge Johan ama cucinare, leggere, viaggiare e giocare a un po' di tutto.

  Johan was born in Sweden in 1960. He lives in Stockholm with his wife and two daughters.

 As a junior, Johan twice won the Nordic Junior Teams title. Since 1993, Johan's regular partner has been the aforementioned living legend of Swedish bridge - PO the technician.  It was also in that year that Johan made his first appearance at the European Teams Championships.

Their Swedish team enjoyed a good run in the Rosenblum teams in Lille in 1998 before bowing to Brazil in the quarterfinals. Johan was a member of the Swedish team that competed at the 2000 World Teams Olympiad in Maastricht and also the Swedish team that competed in the 2001 European Teams Championship in Tenerife.

Johan/PO combined with Bjorn Fallenius/ Magnus Lindkvist to finish second in NEC Cup 2001. Finally in 2012 he earned the third place at Men Individual of World Mind Games.

In 2015 come the best result with the silver medal in the Bermuda Bowl followed by the silver in first edition of IMSA Elite Mind Games (2016) and in European Open Teams (2016).

Away from the bridge table, Johan enjoys cooking, reading novels, travel, and all types of games.
