Soledad de MORATALLA

 María de la Soledad Cabeza de Vaca y Leighton, 5ª marchesa de Moratalla è nata a Londra  il 28 giugno del 1930 da una famiglia di aristocratici andalusi ed ha passato l'ultima parte della sua vita per lo più a Villefranque, una località non lontana dalla splendida Biarritz.

 Suo fratello Alfondo de Portago, uno dei principi del jet set del suo tempo, fu il primo pilota della Ferrari e morì a soli 30 anni disputando la Mille Miglia il 12 maggio del 1957.

 La marchesa ha avuto tre matrimoni e due figli Forester Labrouche e Jacques scomparso all'età di 23 anni.

 Sol de Moratalla amava enormemente i cavalli, ed era un'ottima amazzone ed anche una famosa allevatrice che possedeva una rinomata scuderia.

 L'altra grande passione della marchesa era sempre stata il bridge e lei stessa è una forte giocatrice che di rado è mancata nelle occasione più mondane.

 Ha vinto il bronzo nel Campionato del MEC a Squadre Miste nel 1985 difendendo i colori spagnoli, il Torneo a Coppie Miste di Biarritz nel 1989 e, sempre a Biarritz, il Patton Scratch nel 1994 e nel 1999.

 Nel 1982 fece parte della squadra open spagnola arrivata in semifinale nella Coppa Rosenblum.

Sol è scomparsa il 29 novembre del 2017.

  María de la Soledad Cabeza de Vaca y Leighton, 5th Marquise de Moratalla was born in London on June 28, 1930 from a family of Andalusian aristocrats and spent the last part of her life mostly in Villefranque, a town not far from the beautiful Biarritz.

Her brother Alfondo de Portago, one of the jet set's principles of his time, was the first Ferrari driver and died only 30 when he played the Mille Miglia on May 12, 1957.

The Marchesa had three marriages and two sons Forester Labrouche and Jacques passed away at the age of 23.

Sol de Moratalla loves horses enormously, is an excellent rider and is also a famous breeder who owns a well-known stable.

The other great passion of the Marchesa has always been bridge and she herself is a strong player who has rarely missed on the most mundane occasions.

She won the bronze medal in the Common Market Mixed Team Championship in 1985, defending Spanish colors, the  Biarritz Mixed Pairs  in 1989 and, again in Biarritz, Patton Scratch in 1994 and 1999.

In 1982 she was part of open team arriving to semi final of Rosenblum Cup.

Sol disappeared on 29 November 2017.
