Dovete tirare un solo giro di atout e poi passare subito allo smontamento dell'Asso di quadri.

Se l'Asso di quadri è terzo e gli atout sono divisi 3-2, gli avversari prenderanno al secondo giro e potranno fare un taglio, ma non riscuoteranno null'altro.

Se, invece, tirate due giri di atout, Ovest entrerà al terzo giro di quadri e riuscirà in atout impedendovi di incassare le prese franche del morto che controllerà di taglio.

Se anticipate l'eliminazione degli atout, Ovest prenderà al terzo giro di quadri ed isolerà il morto.

Quando ripiegherete sulle cuori, Est caricherà il Fante e vi costringerà a perdere due prese nel colore.

South cashed the ace of trumps and then played on diamonds. Like his counterpart, this West held up the ace until the third round and then exited with a trump, taken by dummy’s ten.

Declarer now played a good diamond and threw one of his heart losers. West could do no better than ruff and try a heart. Declarer took East’s queen with the ace and then crossed to dummy by playing a trump to the king, drawing West’s last trump, and cashed the fifth diamond to dispose of his remaining heart.

South made five trumps, a heart, three diamonds and a club.

Note that if West had shifted to a heart after winning the ace of diamonds then declarer would have captured the king or queen of hearts  with the ace, drawn trumps and conceded a heart; he would have made five trumps, two hearts, two diamonds and a club.
