Sylvain Brethes è nato a Parigi il 23 settembre 1974 ma si è trasferito a La Réunion in gioventù ed è nel territorio d'oltremare francese che ha compiuto gli studi frequentando il liceo Leconte de Lisle.
Oggi vive a Saint-Denis che il principale centro dell'isola dove lavora come insegnante nella scuola secondaria.
Rappresentante pressoché fisso nella nazionale dell'isola, ha partecipato alle Olimpiadi del 2004 ed alla Rosenblum del 2006.
Sylvain Brethes was born in Paris on 23 September 1974 but
moved to La Réunion in his youth and is in the French overseas territory who has
completed his studies attending the Leconte de Lisle high school.
Today he lives in Saint-Denis, the main center of the island where he works as a teacher in secondary school.
A permanent representative of the island's national team, he participated in the 2004 Olympics and in the 2006 Rosenblum.
