Nato il 20 ottobre del 1953 a Ermont, un paesino poco a nord di Parigi nella Valle dell'Oise, dove oggi vive, Philippe Cronier è uno statistico che dopo solo tre anni di lavoro ha lasciato l'INSEE (l'Istat francese) per dedicarsi completamente al Bridge.

Ha imparato il gioco quando aveva 10 anni osservando i genitori che il sabato sera ricevevano gli amici per qualche rubber.
Sua moglie Bénédicte è una delle migliori giocatori francesi e cura la promozione di Bridge Base On Line in Francia, forse il miglior web site per giocare on line oggi esistente in rete.
Hanno due figli, Nicolas e Marie.
Philippe, che ama il piano e la lettura e che viene classificato tra i primi dieci migliori giocatori francesi è anche redattore di "Jouer Bridge", membro dell'EBL Appeals Committee e dell'EBL Teaching & Schools Committee.
Philippe ha scritto dei libri di grande successo purtroppo non ancora tradotti in lingua italiana (Petit Partenaire, Larousse du Bridge) ed è direttore pedagogico dell'Université du Bridge.
Philippe, che è un World International Master, ha vinto i Campionati Europei a Squadre del 1983 a Wiesbaden, il Misto Europeo Transnazionale a Squadre del 2011, ed è arrivato secondo in quelli di Mentone nel 2003 ed anche conquistato due bronzi nella Bermuda Bowl del 1983 e del 1995.
Nelle competizioni a Coppie è arrivato secondo ai Campionati Europei del 1987 e terzo in quelli del 2003.
Infine, Philippe è stato anche più volte coach delle ladies della nazionale francese guidandole al titolo negli Europei di Villamoura nel 1955, e al bronzo nelle Olimpiadi del 1984 e del 1992 e negli Europei a Squadre del 1989.
Nel 2012 ha guidato al bronzo da capitano non giocatore la Squadra Senior francese alle Olimpiadi e nel 2014 ha vinto i World Bridge Series Senior Teams.
Nel 2015 giunge l'oro nel Coppie Miste agli Europei Open.
Appaiato con la moglie ha vinto la Wuhan Cup del 2022 ed ha guadagnato il bronzo nello Squadre Miste agli Europei Open nel 2017, nei 2018 World Mixed Pairs e nel primo Campionato Europeo a Squadre Nazionale Miste.
Nel 2019 fa parte del Lavazza Team che vince i Campionati Italiani a Squadre Open e la Reisinger.

October 20, 1953 in Ermont, a village just north of Paris in the Valley of the Oise,
where he now lives, is a statistician who, after only three years of work has
left the Insee (the French Istat), to devote himself entirely to the game and the
teaching of the Bridge.
He learned the game when he was 10 years observing parents that received their friends on Saturday night for some rubber.

Philippe, who loves the piano and reading and is ranked among the top ten best French players is also editor of "Joeur Bridge" and a member of EBL Appeals Committee and of the Teaching & Schools Committee.

Paired Bénédicte, in 2017 and 2018 she earned the bronze medal in the Mixed Teams at European Open and at World Mixed Pairs. In 2019 same metal in fisrs European Nationals Mixed Teams Championships.
In 2019 enter in the Lavazza Team and won the Italian Open Teams Championships and the Reisinger.
