Clarence Edward Crossley detto Cap è nato il 28 marzo del 1926 ed è stato un valente anestesista ed una eminente figura del bridge nazionale statunitense.

Marines durante il secondo conflitto mondiale, ha partecipato al conflitto nel Vietnam nell' U.S. Air Force di cui era colonnello riservista.
Si laureò in anestesiologia all'Università dell'Illinois dove praticò attivamente sia il basket che il calcio.
Sposato prima con Lura, anche lei abile bridgista, e poi con Charlene, come lui valente Arbitro, ha avuto 5 figli.
Valente bridgista, negli anni '30 e '40 fu un'insegnante della Scuola fondata da Culbertson, più tardi, come giocatore, vinse diversi tornei regionali e nazionali giocando dapprima in coppia con il padre (Cap senior) e poi con i tre figli maschi, Bill, Dave e Bob. Gli ultimi due, giocando in coppia, vinsero la Vanderbilt Cup del 1974.
Nel ventennio '50-'70 visse a Las Vegas dove fu anche Presidente della Nevada Unit e la sua casa era abitualmente frequentata dai migliori giocatori americani del tempo.
Scomparve a Starkville nel Missouri centrale il 30 giugno del 2013.
Sua moglie Lura Hazel Crossley era nata il 2 febbraio del 1925 a Muskogee nell'Oklahoma, crebbe a Dixon nell'Illinois e si laureò in giornalismo presso l'Università dell'Illinois.
Dopo il matrimonio con Cap, cambiò diverse volte città di residenza fino a stabilirsi a Greenbrae, dove diventò la prima donna Life Master della californiana Contea di Marin e dove, nel 1954 aiutò il marito a fondare la locale Unit.
Una volta divorziata, aprì un circolo nella casa dove viveva con i suoi figli e diventò insegnante ed una delle figure di spicco dell'Agenzia "Travel with Goren". I suoi figli, William, David, Robert e Janet sono tutti bridgisti di valore.
Negli anni '70 acquistò un club della sua città trasformandolo nel Crossley Bridge Center che diresse assieme a due dei suoi figli Janet e Bob che ancora vi lavorano.
Scomparve nella sua casa di
Greenbrae dopo una breve malattia il 5 marzo del 2012. Marines during the Second World War,

later, as a player, he won several regional and national tournaments playing
first teamed with his father (Cap senior) and then with his three sons , Bill,
Dave and Bob. The last two, playing in pairs, won the Vanderbilt Cup in 1974. Since 50s to 70s, lived in Las Vegas where he was also President of the Nevada
Unit and where his house was frequently visited by the best American players of
the time. He disappeared in Starkville in central Missouri on June 30 of 2013.
His wife Lura Hazel Crossley was born February 2, 1925 in Muskogee in Oklahoma and graduated in
journalism from the University of Illinois.
After her marriage to Cap, the couple changed city of residence several times up to
settle in Greenbrae, where she became the first woman Life Master of the
Californian Marin County.
Once divorced, she opened a club in the house where she lived with four of her
children and became a teacher and one of the leading figures of the Agency "Travel
with Goren."
In the '70s he bought a club of his city, transforming it into Crossley Bridge
Center who directed along with two of her children Janet and Bob who still work
there.
She disappeared at his home in Greenbrae after a short illness on 2012, Mars 5.
