William P. Eisenberg è nato a New York il 5 settembre del 1937 ed è stato uno dei più forti giocatori del mondo ed uno dei pochi a raggiungere grande notorietà anche in un altro gioco: il backgammon, di cui è stato campione mondiale nel 1975.

Nei 30 anni che precedettero il suo trasferimento da New York a Dallas, Billy aveva messo insieme un gran numero di vittorie e piazzamenti nazionali ed internazionali, ma fu quando nel 1968 si trasferì nel team degli Aces che conquistò le prime 2 delle sue 5 Bermuda Bowl, vinte giocando con quattro differenti partner!
Lasciati gli Aces per alcuni dissapori con gli altri membri della compagine, nel 1971 si trasferì a Los Angeles dove iniziò la sua carriera di allenatore diventando in assoluto il primo coach dello Junior Team USA.
Successivamente ha allenato anche le nazionali di Israele, Panama, Venezuela, ed Olanda.
Eisenberg vinse il Cap Gemmini del 1991 in coppia con il nostro Garozzo e 16 Campionati Americani tra i quali ricordiamo: 2 Vanderbilt (1971, 78), 2 Spingold (1969, 73), 2 Reisinger (1970, 76), 2 Grand National Teams (1974, 76) ed il Mitchell del 1968.
Billy, che oggi vive a Perris in California ed è stato sposato tre volte, ha avuto successo oltre che come giocatore, anche come insegnante e come commentatore al vugraph.
E' ai primi posti nella classifica dei migliori giocatori del mondo viventi ed è stato insignito del titolo di World Grand Masters.
La ACBL gli ha concesso l'onore di far parte della Hall of Fame nel 1998.
William P. Eisenberg was born in New York on September 5,
1937 and was one of the strongest players in the world and one of the few to
achieve great fame in another game too: backgammon, of which he was world
champion in 1975.
In the 30 years before his move from New York to Dallas, Billy had put together a large number of national and international wins and placings, but it was when in 1968 he moved to the Aces team that he conquered the first 2 of his 5 Bermuda Bowl, win by playing with four different partners!
Having left the Aces for some disagreements with the other members of the team, in 1971 he moved to Los Angeles where he began his coaching career becoming the first coach of the USA Junior Team.
Later he also coached the national teams of Israel, Panama, Venezuela, and the Netherlands.
Eisenberg won the Cap Gemmini of 1991 paired with our Garozzo and 16 American Championships among which we remember: 2 Vanderbilt (1971, 78), 2 Spingold (1969, 73), 2 Reisinger (1970, 76), 2 Grand National Teams (1974, 76) and 1968 Mitchell.

He is at the top of the list of the best living players in the world and has
been awarded the title of World Grand Masters.
ACBL granted him the honor of joining the Hall of Fame in 1998.
