Agnes Gordon, nonostante non abbia brillato molto in campo internazionale, è stata una delle migliori giocatrici americane nel primo ventennio della seconda metà dello scorso secolo.

 Nata a Ridgetown in Ontario nel 1906, ha sempre conservato la cittadinanza canadese, anche se ha vissuto larga parte della sua vita a Buffalo nello stato di New York dove è scomparsa all'età di 61 anni a causa di un cancro.

 Sposata con Thomas, nella sua carriera di giocatrice ha vinto 7 NABC's, tra i quali ricordiamo: la Reisinger del 1948 ed il Whitehead del 1961.

 Nel 1964, tre anni prima della sua scomparsa, conquistò il suo titolo più prestigioso vincendo l'argento per gli USA alle Olimpiadi a Squadre Femminili.

 Agnes, che ha anche ricoperto diversi ed importanti incarichi federali, è stata inclusa nella Hall of Fame americana nel 2009 con l'assegnazione del Trofeo von Zedtwitz e in quella canadese nel 2014.

 Born in Ridgetown (Ontario), Canada, she moved to Buffalo NY but remained a Canadian citizen.

Gordon, who died in 1967, won seven North American championships, including the Chicago Board-a-Match Teams (now the Reisinger) in 1948; the Mixed Board-a-Match Teams in 1951, 1952 and 1962; the Women’s Pairs in 1961; the Mixed Pairs and the Women’ Teams in 1967. She was on the second-place squad in the World Women’s Teams in 1964 and represented the U.S. in two world championships.

The von Zedtwitz Award was created to honor a deceased player who would have been elected to the Hall of Fame in their time, before the institution was created, but is not well known today. Agnes Gordon, the 2009 von Zedtwitz honoree, was one of the ACBL’s top players for three decades.

Since 2014 she has been elected in Canadian Hall of Fame.

Gordon and Eric Murray had a record 78% game in the final session of the Rockwell Mixed Pairs, which they won in 1963.
