She had had a brother Eugene and elder sister Florence who was a known photographer who married the actor Oscar Homolka.
Leading figure in the social life of Washington she was a personal friend of Warren Buffett and loved playing bridge having as mentor champion Sharon Osberg.
She died while on vacation in Idaho in Boise on 2001, July 17.
