Edward Hymes jr. è nato il 4 dicembre del 1908 ed è stato un avvocato ed un bridgista americano di spicco nella prima metà del secolo scorso.
All'età di 26 anni, partecipò a stilare le leggi del bridge entrando nella ACBL Laws Commission. Fu compagno del celebre Oswald Jacoby e, come il padre prima di lui, fu anche campione di scacchi.
Nella sua carriera vinse 7 NABC tra i quali ricordiamo le Spingold del 1941, 1943 e 1945 ed il Vanderbilt del 1940.
Scomparve a New York City il 17 ottobre del 1962.
