Jan Janowski č nato nel 1928 a Kielce una cittā circa 120 Km a Nord di Cracovia.
Professore universitario di metallurgia che ha ottenuto tutti i titoli accademici possibili in Polonia, č stato anche un noto uomo politico che ha fatto parte a vario titolo del Parlamento polacco fino ad essere Vice Primo Ministro nel 1989.
Ha scritto un paio di centinaia di testi scientifici sulla metallurgia e le proprietā dei materiali.
Giudice e rappresentante del governo polacco nella Federazione Internazionale di Pallacanestro, amava giocare a bridge e lo faceva molto bene.
Scomparve a Cracovia nel 1998.
