Marilyn è nata nel 1928 a Wellesley nel Massachusetts dove ha frequentato la locale Università dove si è laureata in chimica prima di impiegarsi alla Shell Oil dove rimase per 33 anni fino al momento del pensionamento.
World Women Grand Master è stata una delle migliori giocatrici del mondo senza mai essere stata una professionista a tempo pieno.
Ha vinto il Campionato del Mondo a Coppie Femminili nel 1970, la Venice Cup del 1980 e le Olimpiadi del 1980 guadagnandosi la Triple Crown, un trofeo del quale nella storia del bridge solo 7 giocatrici hanno potuto insignirsi.
Ha anche guadagnato due bronzi nelle Olimpiadi del 1972 e del 1976.
Sul piano Nazionale ha vinto 8 NABC tra i quali brilla il Von Zedtwitz Life Master Pairs del 1978, una competizione che lei e Mary Jane Farell sono le uniche donne ad averlo mai vinto.
É scomparsa a Houston dove viveva il 31 ottobre del 2008.
