Robert d'Unienville nacque nel 1927 ed è stato il più grande giocatore di bridge mauriziano ed anche il miglior insegnante di matematica che l'isola abbia mai avuto.

 Durante il suo soggiorno in Inghilterra dove studiava all'università di Oxford conobbe Alan Truscott con cui formò una coppia formidabile che vinse i trials di qualificazioni e partecipò assieme ai mostri sacri del tempo ai Campionati Europei a Squadre del 1951 vincendo la medaglia di bronzo.

 L'anno successivo vinse la Tollemache Cup ma poi rientrò nella sua amata isola ed abbandonò il bridge agonistico internazionale.

 Scomparve dopo una breve malattia il 20 febbraio del 1996.

Robert d'Unienville was born in 1927 and was the greatest Mauritian bridge player and also the best math teacher the island has ever had.

During his stay in England where he studied at the Oxford University he met Alan Truscott with whom he formed a formidable pair that won the qualification trials and participated together with the sacred monsters of the time at the European Team Championships of 1951 winning the bronze medal.

The following year he won the Tollemache Cup but then returned to his beloved island and abandoned the international competitive bridge.

He disappeared after a brief illness on February 20, 1996.
